Supper With Santa!

Supper With Santa, is a very unique event that takes place at the Butterfly house in Chesterfield Missouri. Santa is simply magical. Children of all ages still love Santa, and the idea of Santa Claus the the happiness and joy he represents. Santa Claus is something children look forward to, and the idea of having supper with Santa has got to be one of the cutest things I have ever heard of. Supper with Santa includes a lot of things. You need to sign up in advance, as the dates in December fill up quickly. For instance, there are only 6 nights of the whole event, to start with. They occur on Saturday and Sunday evenings, the 3 prior to Christmas. Adults can attend, and large parties come together sometimes. You can see grandparents, aunts and uncles come. The cost ranges in price from 15-20 dollars. What comes with this however, are the following. - A small goody bag at the time of entering the building - Many different crafts, including one like you see in the photo above, and certainly not limited to that. - Time with Santa while getting your picture taken with him. - A wonderful catered pasta meal, after walking down a candy cane lane toward the tent in the outside butterfly garden area. - Walking through the butterfly conservatory at night, something very rare that not many get to do! - Learning about other insects besides butterflies, and even getting to hold a hissing cockroach, or feel the larvae! -Face painting with your desired design! These are just some of the things I remember while being there. There was Holiday music playing when we went in, and it was a magical night for sure. I hope to go again and wanted to share the experience with others.

Watching the Cause and Effect Play Out In America

Without getting into too many details or opinions, I thought it would be good to share that I am one of likely many people watching the cause and effect playing out in America.

I mean in particular, how our choices really do affect us not just now but in the long run.  Our choices begin a ripple effect that when combined with others makes a great impact.

Trying hard to not become overly discouraged by the great USA, and what it used to be and stood for.

Truth and reality work in such ways.

My hope is that Americans learn to be more critical thinkers than we see currently.

Getting Points and Rewards for Purchases - And My First Nordstrom Note!

Many people take advantage of the points and rewards offered by many of the credit and debit card choices out there.  Our family is no exception.  I have found that some seem to take forever, while others don't take that long.

One new thing I am trying is to use my Nordstrom Credit card more.  It is a VISA card, to shop with anywhere including Nordstrom of course.  At any rate, I noticed that I was close to reaching the point of getting a Nordstrom note.  These are twenty dollar notes that count towards a Nordstrom purchase.  Well, I just got mine in the mail, and I am so excited!

I have to admit, that I didn't use this card much before, but this really tempts me to keep on using this particular card!  I like the idea of being rewarded for my loyalty to a bank or company that extends a line of credit.

In this world and current crazy US economy, I will try to be smart about all kinds of things, including making good use of my Nordstrom note.

It may not be a big deal to many people, but it is kind of cool to me.  Sometimes it doesn't take much to make my day!  Thanks Nordstrom! I have loved Nordstrom a long time, even if I can't shop at one often.  This only helps!

Gymquarters - Gymnastics Place

This is Gymquarters, the place where my son used to do gymnastics at. It was a great place, with great teachers and exposure to learn how to become a great gymnast.

Sticking it out, during a tough time at work

Hard Times Will Come

I am coming out of what has been a tough time at work, and I actually feel rather encouraged. I didn't feel good at all for the last month or so, but it got worse than I expected. Many people know what it is like to work with less than pleasant people. Some know what it is like to be a woman that can deal with petty women in the workplace. Even guys maybe have their share of this, and the drama that can follow.

While some things are in our control, other things are not so much! I wanted to share what I learned these last few weeks that I think helped me, and could help others possibly as well.

First, when you are being treated poorly, try not to fight back too hard. This goes against our natures, and often the treatment was just "bait" anyway! Try not to take the bait. There are some really rotten and borderline psychotic people in the world that can just seem to thrive on going after others that don't deserve it.

Second, don't become what the difficult people want you to be. Be your own person, hard working, focused, positive and doing good to others. You might be surprised who is watching and how a seemingly impossible situation can turn around for a hard working "underdog." I am telling you, it may seem like you are being taken advantage of, even "run over" so to speak, but you still win even if you end up losing when you made good decisions along the way.

Don't panic. This is what I started to, even though I didn't want to, because of this economy. It is hard to find a new job right now! Try to keep the bigger picture in mind, and give people time. They will often come around, and want the better person with good integrity and a hard work ethic around over others.

Don't give up, don't just quit. The change you are so desiring, can be just around the corner! What if you up and walked out one day, and made a decision that you will regret later on. Don't make possibly regrettable decisions, even when you are overwhelmed and feeling week. Let your good sense and patience, and morality take the time to win out that it deserves.

If you are a praying person, pray. Pray with faith! Meditate, focus, relax, and do whatever it takes to take care of you during a hard time. Don't let the idiots in life get you down, and cause you to make bad choices while they seemingly go unscathed. Do what is right, even when it seems like you are losing for it. It matters, and I have seen too many times where if you can hold on, (not during abusive situations of course), do hold on. You might just be surprised!

Feeling encouraged, even though not everything is perfect. Feeling thankful. Thank you God!

New Ipad

A New Ipad Purchase!!!

Today was kind of a big day for me, because I have wanted an Ipad for a long time, but never could justify the purchase. I still almost cannot, but I can see more how I can use it in life, and I actually plan to do a lot of work on it where it hopefully will end up paying for itself! Wouldn't that be nice?

I love to write, and am online a lot. I love photograhpy, and these two things, writing and photography seem to be things that will work well with an Ipad. So I took the plunge.

My Ipad 3 is the 16GG version, white body, with a dark grey cover. Its nice looking. I am pleased. Trying to decide now whether or not I want to get a bigger cover that includes a keyboard, as that is how I type best. Its not a Mac product, but they look neat and my husband found this item by seeing it on the news. After further research, we realized it wasn't a Mac product. I think the company's name is Zagg. They look awesome. If you have any thoughts on this product, do share with me. I need to decide soon.

So far, loving the Ipad, after getting it to let me sign on our own WiFi connection. I had some residual connection left over from the store, and after talking to tech support, we realized it was an easy fix. I needed to turn off the WiFi connection altogether, then retry. It worked like a charm. My frustration was abated. Thanks Mac for making a cool product like the Ipad, I am very excited!!

Getting Back To Geneaology

Genealogy - Our Ancestry

I have loved history and personal family genealogy for a long time now.  It has been an off and on passion of mine for some time.  Recently I splurged and got a nice months membership at Ancestry.com.  This has been a joy, however the timing wasn't the best. What made it worse, was they renewed without my realizing they were going to automatically.

I cancelled the second month, and have a few days left on this last month I paid.  So the next few days as I get some down time, I will devote to trying to get some of my money's worth out of the site that I paid so much to be a part of.  It was over 60 dollars now in two months, gulp...

That said, I am thankful for the opportunity.  I need to make some good use of things, and then save things, and go back and see if the information is all correct or not.  The timing and the feeling rushed can make being accurate a harder chore, but its worth it.

Butterfly in the Garden

Yellow Swallowtail Butterfly Visiting my Purple Phlox Flowers I am posting this beautiful butterfly visiting my butterfly garden that I was inspired to grow from my love of butterflies. Also, I was inspired to grow my own butterfly garden after visiting a butterfly conservatory in Missouri, in Chesterfield. I think its a one of the simple but most beautiful highlights that I will always have in my memory.

Living our Lives - Making it all count.

If I have learned anything over my life, and especially in the last couple of years, it is that life is absolutely precious and short. I recall being told how quick it would go by, especially when I had kids. I tried, therefore, to keep it slow, to take it in, etc. I tried desperately to capture it all as I could, on film, and video and writing things down in scrapbooks, etc. Wow, it still went by quickly. I could barely capture snippets, when all said and done. Many people in my family have passed away over my 42 years on this planet. I think about it in the greater sense, like wow it was relatively short for all of them! Time kept on passing regardless of what anyone did! We are aging and dying, and trying to enjoy things as we can. Without getting overly technical and philosophical at this point (though I plan to later!), this blog is about the little things on the way that were beautiful, hard, worth remembering, or worth enjoying along the way. I say 42 years, but I am not 42 until 3 more days, so I shouldn't push it! Thank you for stopping by. I will post as often as I can, sometimes rather random things or photos. Life IS worth living, no matter how it looks at the moment, no matter how hard things get. I hope people always remember that, and know that things can turn around and get better if we hang in there!
